Scotland slump to 24-19 defeat against Fiji as Darcy Graham is sent off | Rugby Union News

Darcy Graham was sent because the hopes of Scotland of a nicer draw was subjected to a defeat of 29-14 to Fiji.

The Edinburgh winger left with 23 minutes to play the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva after a second yellow card offense in a frustrating afternoon for the men of Gregor Townsend.

They had entered the seventh -seventh match in the world ranking and targeting a place in the top six, which would mean a more favorable draw for the 2027 World Cup in Australia, but they ended it to lick their injuries after a murderous reverse.

The Scots led 7-0 after only four minutes when Graham put the lateral back Kyle Rowe and he passed with the beginner of Fergus Burke, the beginner.

However, the bad discipline had to hinder their efforts to take revenge for their 27-22 defeat in Suva in 2017.

The yellow card of the eighth minute of Hooker Ewan Ashman after the Fijians of Ninth Rang had pushed visitors to their own line and prompted a series of offenses to his teams, but the 14 men survived punishment in his absence and he was back on the ground when Caleb Muntz reduced the deficit with a penal.

But Graham’s departure to the sin-good nine minutes before the break to tackle a player without the ball was severely punished.

The first Tevita Ikanivere approached after the Fiji violated the Scottish defense of an exit line, then Kalaveti Ravouvou was the beneficiary after his team filmed the ball of another move, with Muntz converting this last effort to send them to the break with an advance of 15-7.

Scotland brought back into it within four minutes of restart when the center of Bristol Tom Jordan crossed after a pause Ashman and Burke added the two points to mitigate the men of Townsend to a point of the hosts.

However, the beautiful trial of the 59th minute of the winger of Toulon Jiuta Wainiqolo, who was again converted by Muntz, restored the advance of Fiji and when they received a penalty test which saw the offside Graham recover a second yellow card and therefore a red, the day of the tourists was finished.
