Shin Yamada transfer: Celtic sign Japan striker from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale on four-year deal | Football News

Celtic signed the Shin Yamada striker from the frontal of the J-League Kawasaki for a four-year contract.

The Scottish champions paid around 1.5 million pounds sterling for the Japanese international when it becomes the fifth summer signature of Brendan Rodgers.

The 25 -year -old was prolific for frontal in 2024 with 19 goals, but managed to find the net twice this year.

He made his international debut earlier this month, leaving the bench during the 6-1 victory in Japan on Hong Kong at the East Asian Cup.

Yamada told goodbye to frontal fans after their cup match against SC Sagamihara on Wednesday.

The Celtic Rodgers manager said: “He is a strong player who can score goals and create goals for others and I think it is someone who can certainly add an important dimension to our front line.

“I know that he is really eager to make his mark here in European football and to deliver to Celtic and I think he is someone who has power, athletics and intensity in his game to do very well for us.”

Yamada added: “I have already looked at my compatriots like Daizen [Maeda]Reo [Hatate] and kyogo [Furuhashi] Do so well at Celtic and I will aim to have the same impact.

“I am my own player, however, and I am ready to take all my own challenges directly.”
