The production designer interpreted this as wanting to go home, which is why she invoked the feeling of a station that many people in Korea take to go home on vacation. Meanwhile, the giant robots that swing the rope, Chul-Soo and Young-Hee, were modeled with well-known characters in the textbooks of the Korean elementary school.
“We have designed young and chul-soo outfits to look like children dressed for their return trip,” said Chae. “With their shoes being pretty and clean. And with young people, we had to pay attention to the space between his legs, because the actors had to cross them – the visual design was important. One of the last things we did is to put him down, and while we were updating, we designed flowers on it.”
Although the fall in the platform is fatal for game players, it was much safer in real life for the actors – although some are always terrified.
