Steve Carell calls out Stephen Colbert in commencement speech

Steve Carell thinks the world could use more people like Stephen Colbert.

Sunday, The office Star pronounced the starting address to the 2025 promotion of the Northwestern University, during which he stressed that “kindness is not a weakness – it is a very powerful force”.

“Remember the little things, like being nice and you are not alone,” said Carell during his start speech, while receiving an honorary doctorate from the arts. “Take care of each other. Don’t forget to laugh when you have the opportunity and cry if necessary.”

This is a lesson that the actor took advantage of while he was referring to a former North-West University who is also his “Dear Friend” Late show with Stephen Colbert host.

“I know a famous and powerful person who is so kind,” said Carell about Colbert. “Stephen is a brilliant and wonderful person. Talented, generous, better than I am in almost all ways. If he was here today, he would probably make a better speech. An innovator, an icon, a family father and a friend. He is so wonderful in fact, that he makes me terrible and I hate him a lot.

THE Four seasons Star has encouraged graduates to exploit their insecurity and channel them in something constructive, saying: “Envy is an enemy of kindness and lack of belief in your own gifts. And what are you even envious? A facade than another human being, say, Stephen Colbert creates for themselves.”

“And keep in mind that as bad as you feel about the state of the world, your parents probably feel worse. Use it, take advantage of it,” joked Carell. “This is the ideal moment to exploit your parents’ guilt and make them sing emotionally. They could even let you live in the basement for an additional six months.”

Halfway through his speech, Carell put things by driving the public in a break in dance, to “it’s not my name” by the tings. The actor joined School of Communications E. Patrick Johnson in a shimmy on stage before going out on stage and dancing with the crowd of graduates.

“It was as invigorating as it is disturbing,” Carell told the public after a minute break while trying to catch his breath. “Wow, am I out of shape.”

Carell lived faithful to his words in his own life. The star recently joined Alice’s Kids, a charitable organization that provides financial assistance to children in need, to announce a free ball for hundreds of Californian students.

In a video published on the Instagram page of the charity in March, Carell surprised the students of six schools in southern California, telling them that Alice’s children will pay their entries to senior dance. The news occurs after the Los Angeles region was ravaged by forest fires which destroyed more than 16,000 houses, businesses and other structures and which have taken the lives of at least 29 people in the Pacific Palisades and the Altadena region. Several school campuses have been burned, overwhelming the lives of students, teachers and parents.

Alice’s Kids plans to cover the cost of the ball for more than 800 students, ensuring their chance to attend the annual rite of the school. The effort will cost around $ 175,000 because tickets generally vary from $ 100 to $ 150 each.

Carell closed the video saying to adolescents: “Have fun. Take advantage of the ball and remember … It’s Steve Carell. Walk, guys.”
