Teen charged in foiled terror attack at Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Vienna

A Syrian teenager was charged in Germany as part of the terrorist attack thwarted during the Vienna shows of Taylor Swift during the ERA tour.

German prosecutors identified Mohammad A. As a suspect in a press release shared on Friday, alleging that the teenager had helped another suspect to install instructions on how to build bombs.

“Mohammad A. joined the ideology of the terrorist organization” Islamic State “(ES) at least since April 2024,” said the attorney general in a statement translated from German. “Between mid-July and August 2024, he was in contact with a young adult from Austria who provided for a bomb attack on a concert by singer Taylor Swift.”

The adolescent is also accused of having “established contacts with an IS member abroad via the Internet” and of providing the main suspect “a model for the Ei allegiance oath, which the young adult used to join the organization”.

A Swift representative did not immediately respond to Weekly entertainmentComment request.

The pop star had to perform three shows in the Austrian capital between August 8 and August 10 of last year. The concert promoter Barracuda Music canceled the shows the day before the programs that were to start, citing “the confirmation of government representatives of a planned terrorist attack” on the site, Ernst Happel Stadium, and announcing that all tickets would be reimbursed.

A 17 -year -old who had previously been arrested as a possible accomplice has since been released without accusations.

Swift addressed the terrorist plot after finishing the European tour of the tour at the end of August, calling for “devastating” cancellations.

“The reason for cancellations fulfilled me with a new feeling of fear and enormous guilt because so many people had planned to come to these shows,” she said on Instagram at the time. “But I was also very grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were in mourning concerts and not lives.”

Swift also said that she was “encouraged by love and unity that I saw in fans who gathered”, referring to the fans of Vienna who gathered in the streets to exchange friendship bracelets and sing to her songs. The singer-songwriter also explained that she had not immediately discussed the situation of fans’ security.

“I’m not going to talk about something publicly if I think it could cause those who would like to harm fans who come to my shows,” said Swift. “In cases like this, ‘Silence’ actually shows a restraint and is waiting to express themselves at a time when it is right. My priority was to finish our European visit safely, and it is with a lot of relief that I can say that we did it.”
