Thomas Partey: Former Arsenal midfielder charged with rape and sexual assault | Football News
Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey was accused of five rape leaders and a chief of sexual assault, London metropolitan police said.
The accusations concern three women and the offenses would have taken place between 2021 and 2022.
He should appear before the Westminster magistrate court in London on August 5.
Party, 32, was arrested for the first time in July 2022, although he was not appointed at the time and continued to play for Arsenal while the surveys were underway.
International Ghana spent five seasons at Arsenal after being signed in 2020 for 45 million pounds sterling, but is now a free agent after the expiration of his contract on Monday. He made 52 appearances for Arsenal last season in all competitions.
Two rape leaders relate to a woman, three rape leaders concern a second woman and a chief of sexual assault concerns a third woman.
“The accusations follow a detective investigation, which began in February 2022 after the police received a rape report for the first time,” said the MET police press release.
Superintendent-detective Andy Furphy, whose team leads the investigation, said: “Our priority remains supporting women who have come forward”.
Anyone who has information about the case or who has been affected by IT is invited to contact the Police MET.
