Tyrese Haliburton injury: Torn Achilles feared for Pacers star after exiting NBA Finals Game 7 in serious pain
The start of Tyrese Haliburton’s match 7, the NBA NBA final, the start of the NBA final quickly turned into a nightmare when the Pacers star left the winner’s title with less than five minutes to play in the first quarter with a serious injury to the right leg. Fear is that Haliburton, who played through a calf tension for the last two games, has torn his Achilles tendon. Haliburton’s father John confirmed to ESPN that his son had suffered an injury from Achilles. Haliburton did not return to match 7 and was seen outside the teammates of the Pacers’ locker room after the defeat of 103-91 from Indy.
NBA fans have become too familiar in these qualifying series with the appearance of a torn Achilles. Haliburton went down, immediately hurt and seemed to know that it was a serious injury. Here is the entire room:
Haliburton came out on fire with three 3 points at the first quarter and seemed to be on the way to a huge match 7. Instead, he was cut seven minutes, Haliburton beat his fist in the ground, screaming and crying. He immediately knew gravity.
Haliburton underwent the tension of the right calf in match 5 on Monday, and since Kevin Durant has torn his Achilles in the 2019 final after initially undergoing a veal strain earlier in the playoffs, people established the link between the two injuries.
Haliburton, for what it is worth, addressed the risks of playing through the tension of the calf before Thursday match 6. Here is what he said to the Indy Star:
“I just had to hear that it was going,” said Haliburton in the pre-match pacers changing rooms. “That’s all I really had to hear, honestly. I know the risks, I know everything that comes with it. I just had to hear that it was going.”
Haliburton was asked if he learned that there was no risk of additional injury.
“No, I didn’t hear that,” said Haliburton. “No.”
Haliburton could become the third All-Star to tear his Achilles in these playoffs. Bucks star, Damian Lillard, did it in the first round, and Jayson Tatum of the Celtics fell in the second round. Lillard and Tatum will miss most of the 2025-26 season.
Haliburton is an All-Star and All-NBA selection twice. It was on average 17.7 points and 9.0 assists per game in the playoffs entering the final of the season of Sunday and came several times. Haliburton struck four winning baskets in these playoff series, including a Buzzer Jump of Match 1 against the Thunder.
